Recap: Papillion-LaVista South Titans vs. Omaha North Vikings
After flying high against the Millard South Patriots on Friday, the Papillion-LaVista South Titans came back down to earth. Papillion-LaVista South fell just short of Omaha North by a score of 62-60. Papillion-LaVista South was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Omaha North apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Despite the loss, Papillion-LaVista South still got an impressive performance from Bryson Bahl, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds. The game was Bahl's tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Wes Frost, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Papillion-LaVista South were working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Omaha North only racked up eight assists.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Omaha North to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dekhi Turner, who scored 17 points. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Jerri'on Williams, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Papillion-LaVista South's defeat dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Omaha North, they pushed their record up to 8-2 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
Papillion-LaVista South will take on Omaha Westside at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Omaha Westside is ranked 26th, while Papillion-LaVista South is ranked 27th). As for Omaha North, they will head out on the road to face off against Papillion-LaVista at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
