Softball Recap: Serra Catholic Eagles vs. Monessen Greyhounds
Serra Catholic made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Monessen, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Eagles put the hurt on the Greyhounds with a sharp 18-3 victory on Tuesday. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Kelly Morrissey was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Giana Foster was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She also put up two RBI, which were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Alonna Morton, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Serra Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
