Preview: Maconaquah Braves vs. Wabash Apaches
Maconaquah has played every game this season on their home court, but they'll have to hit the road on Friday. They will take on the Wabash Apaches at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Maconaquah focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up seven more assists than your opponent, a fact Maconaquah proved. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat North Miami 79-37 at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 58-14.
Maconaquah's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Josiah Ball, who scored 24 points along with 8 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Ball has scored at least 25% of Maconaquah's points. The team also got some help courtesy of AJ Kelly, who scored 21 points along with 4 steals.
Meanwhile, Wabash strolled past Southwood with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 59-41. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Wabash.
Wabash can attribute much of their success to Izaak Wright, who scored 19 points, and Trevor Daughtry, who scored 16 points along with 9 rebounds and 5 assists. The game was Wright's third in a row with at least ten points. Grant Ford was another key contributor, scoring 6 points along with 6 rebounds.
Maconaquah's win lifted them to 2-0 while North Miami's loss dropped them down to 1-2.
Maconaquah came up short against Wabash in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 77-68. Can Maconaquah avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
