Volleyball Recap: Athens Comes Up Short

Athens lost against Newman Catholic back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Bluejays came up short against the Fighting Cardinals, falling 3-0.

Sy'Rih Hartwig paced Athens' offense, picking up eight kills. Hartwig got some help from Karly Eckert and her 12 assists. Brynley Louis controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Athens has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-19 record this season. As for Newman Catholic, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-16.

Looking ahead, after both having extra time off, Athens and Alma will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 7:00 p.m. on the 23rd. Newman Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
