Football Game Preview: Arlington Heights Yellowjackets vs. Wyatt Chaparrals + Official Tickets

Arlington Heights is a perfect 8-0 against Wyatt since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Yellowjackets will head out on the road to challenge the Chaparrals at 7:30 p.m. Arlington Heights knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Wyatt likes a good challenge.

Arlington Heights easily dispatched Polytechnic two weeks ago, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Yellowjackets fell just short of Saginaw by a score of 50-47 on Thursday. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Yellowjackets, who until this matchup were averaging 9.14 points allowed.

Arlington Heights' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Carson James, who gained 200 total yards and two touchdowns, and Carmelo Carter, who rushed for 105 yards. James is also crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 124 every time he's taken the field this season. Another big playmaker for Arlington Heights was Antonio Johnson, who returned a punt for a touchdown.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Johnson, who ran a punt back for a touchdown. Another bright spot was a kickoff return touchdown from Ce'Antae Johnson.

Meanwhile, Wyatt had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 47-7 victory over the Bulldogs. Given the Chaparrals' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 376th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 1021st) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Having lost for the first time this season, Arlington Heights fell to 6-1. As for Wyatt, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.

Everything came up roses for Arlington Heights against Wyatt when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 57-6 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Yellowjackets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
