Preview: Milpitas vs. Caruthers
Caruthers will go up against Milpitas in continuing playoff action on Saturday. Averaging 33.50 points per game, the Caru rs squad has been an offensive juggernaut in the playoffs, so hopefully Milpitas' defense is prepared for a test.
Even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Caruthers beat Dos Palos 27-22 last week. The Blue Raiders' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bobby Staley led the charge as he rushed for 73 yards and two TDs on 22 carries. This makes it 13 games in a row in which Staley has produced a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Milpitas earned some more postseason success in their contest last week. It was a tight matchup that could have gone either way, but the Trojans made off with a 27-26 victory over Branham. The score was all tied up at the break 6-6, but the Trojans were the better team in the second half.
