Recap: Simla Cubs vs. Byers Bulldogs

In what's become a running theme this season, the Simla Cubs gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They blew past Byers 51-31. Given Simla's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while Byers is ranked 228th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Among those leading the charge was Amara Mazerall, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlee Cox, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.

Despite the loss, Byers still got an impressive performance from Sophie Linnebur, who scored 11 points. Anna Vetter was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with two steals.

Simla now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Byers, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-6.

Simla will face off against Burlington at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Byers, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Genoa-Hugo/Karval at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Genoa-Hugo/Karval focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Saturday.
