Basketball Recap: Earl B. Edmonds' Big Game Can't Quite Lead King's Christian Academy over Takoma Academy

If King's Christian Academy was feeling good fresh off their 75-37 takedown of Calverton last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The King's Christian Academy Eagles lost to the Takoma Academy Tigers on the road by a 80-65 margin on Tuesday. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

King's Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Earl B. Edmonds, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. He is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 55% in the last four games he's played. Kyle Kovich was another key player, going 8-for-14 on his way to 20 points along with six boards and four blocks.

King's Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 8-20. As for Takoma Academy, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 17-13.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. We've got a battle between Eagles coming up. As for Takoma Academy, they will square off against Avalon at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Avalon knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 16 matchups -- so hopefully Takoma Academy likes a good challenge.
