Basketball Recap: Resurrection Christian Makes It 23 in a Row at Home

Resurrection Christian won the last time they faced Eaton and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Resurrection Christian Cougars came out on top against the Eaton Reds by a score of 49-37. Winning may never get old, but the Cougars sure are getting used to it with their ninth in a row.

Resurrection Christian had a senior duo take command as Olivia Klein posted 18 points and three steals and Callie Gillespie went 5-for-7 to rack up 14 points and six assists. Klein has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lysette Baatz, who scored six points.

Resurrection Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matches.

Several Reds players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Courtney Steinkamp, who had 11 points along with eight boards and three steals. Saryiah Gaona was another key player, putting up three points and three steals.

Resurrection Christian pushed their record up to 21-1 with the victory, which was their 23rd straight at home dating back to last season. As for Eaton, they moved to 15-7 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
