Basketball Recap: Marquez Triumphs

Lincoln came into Friday's matchup looking for another win against Marquez, but Corshell Vaughn wouldn't allow it. The Marquez Gladiators walked away with a 40-30 victory over the Lincoln Tigers on Friday thanks in part to Vaughn, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 28 boards. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Larios, who posted four points and ten rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last three games she's played.

The win got Marquez back to even at 4-4. As for Lincoln, they now have a losing record at 2-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marquez will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Maywood Academy at 4:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025. Lincoln also won't see the court for a while: their next game is against Marshall at 4:30 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
