Whitwell dropped their record down to 22-11-1 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They fell just short of Gordonsville by a score of 4-2. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 14, 2018, but that streak is no more.

Whitwell saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colin Beason, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

As for Gordonsville, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 20 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games.

On Gordonsville's side, the team relied heavily on Tucker Smith, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Whitwell beat Gordonsville by a score of 19-10 on Thursday.
