Leelynd Durbin Has Career Rushing Day
Starting off the list is Flanagan/Woodland's Leelynd Durbin, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. On Friday Durbin rushed for 247 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.9 yards per carry, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 70-yard run.
Flanagan/Woodland pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. Durbin will have a chance to log another big game when he takes on Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] on Friday.

Austin Nelson Delivers Best Performance of Season
On Friday, West Prairie/Southeastern got the W thanks in part to Austin Nelson playing the best football he has all season. Nelson rushed for 205 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.1 yards per carry, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. That high mark didn't come from nowhere: he has now rushed for 112 or more in the last three games he's played dating back to last season.
Nelson is probably looking forward to his next game, a home matchup against Peoria Heights on Friday. Back in September of 2023 (the last time Nelson saw Peoria Heights), he rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries.
