Volleyball Recap: Belleville West Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Aidan Idrees and Mika Mariles

Belleville West lost against Collinsville back in April, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Maroons fell just short of the Kahoks by a score of 2-1. The Maroons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Belleville West sadly wound up on the wrong side. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 22-25, 25-19.

Despite the loss, Belleville West had strong showings from Mika Mariles, who had ten digs and one assist, and Aidan Idrees, who had 11 kills, eight digs, and two aces. Idrees has been hot recently, having posted seven or more kills the last three times he's played.

Belleville West's defeat dropped their record down to 10-15. As for Collinsville, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-13 record this season.

Belleville West will host Metro-East Lutheran at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Collinsville, they will square off against O'Fallon at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Kahoks surely won't give up without a fight.
