The Montebello Oilers will venture away from home to face off against the Schurr Spartans at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
On Friday, Montebello beat Bell Gardens 6-3.

Isaac Solorzano spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 13 Ks. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Montebello let Fernando Cruz and Devin Lopez run wild. Cruz went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double, while Lopez scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Cruz is becoming a predictor of Montebello's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is undefeated (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Roberto Barraza was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Montebello was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .424 or higher in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Schurr). They put the hurt on Mark Keppel with a sharp 17-11 win on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won three games by six runs or more so far this season.
Logan Trevino made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 5-for-6. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, Liam Lu was incredible, going 5-for-6 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Joseph Hernandez, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-5.
Schurr picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 4-5. As for Montebello, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Montebello hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .409. However, it's not like Schurr struggles in that department as they've averaged .315. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Montebello skirted past Schurr 1-0 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Montebello since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
