Softball Recap: Clark Has No Trouble Against Madison

Clark won the last time they faced Madison and things went their way on Friday too. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Mavericks. The game was the first time the Cougars have beaten the Mavericks on their field since April 19, 2022.

Clark got a great performance from Rylee Luna as she pitched 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Charlie Keck, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (two). Kayla Woods was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Clark kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.

Clark's victory bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Madison, they moved to 9-7 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clark will square off against Brandeis at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Broncos have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for Madison, they will take on Johnson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
