Bishop Blanchet is 1-9 against Roosevelt since June of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Bears will head out on the road to square off against the Roughriders at 4:00 p.m. Bishop Blanchet is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.8 runs per game this season.
Bishop Blanchet fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Garfield on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 5-4.
Ali Wistrom was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That stolen base was her first of the season. Noelle Schuyler was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double.
Meanwhile, Roosevelt waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past Holy Names Academy 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Roughriders, who have now won eight matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Kate Torrie, who fired off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Eva Lacey, who went 4-for-5 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Roosevelt lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Roosevelt's record now sits at 16-6. As for Bishop Blanchet, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-5-1.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Bishop Blanchet has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .498. However, it's not like Roosevelt struggles in that department as they've averaged .464. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bishop Blanchet couldn't quite get it done against Roosevelt when the teams last played back in March as they fell 22-17. Can the Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
