Softball Recap: The Christian Academy's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

There's no place like home for The Christian Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They blew past the Delaware County Christian Knights 13-5 on Tuesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-7 two weeks ago.

Avery Burghart was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, The Christian Academy let Tori Townsend and Rachel Force run wild. Townsend went a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Force got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those four hits gave Townsend a new career-high. Amanda Daniels also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

The Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

With the win, The Christian Academy broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-8. As for Delaware County Christian, they are on a 15-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-16.

Looking ahead, The Christian Academy is taking a road trip to face off against The Pilgrim Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Delaware County Christian, they will host Plumstead Christian at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Plumstead Christian has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.73 runs per game on average), something Delaware County Christian will no doubt try to take advantage of.
