Basketball Recap: Lucas Babst's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Eastmont over Moses Lake

Eastmont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 78-73 heartbreaker at the hands of the Moses Lake Mavericks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 82-77 back in January.

Eastmont's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lucas Babst, who went 8 for 16 to rack up 23 points. The dominant performance gave Babst a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Tyse Lewallen, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds.

Even though they lost, Eastmont was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Eastmont's defeat dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Moses Lake, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season.

Eastmont didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-52 win against Sunnyside on the 8th. As for Moses Lake, they have also already played their next matchup, an 89-86 loss against Davis on the 8th.
