Basketball Recap: Morgan Township Comes Up Short

Morgan Township was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 62-59 heartbreaker at the hands of the South Central Satellites. The Cherokees were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Satellites apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

South Central got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jay Huerta out in front who shot 60% from the field to rack up 21 points and seven boards. Huerta is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 40% in the last four games he's played. Noah Howard was another key player, going 6-for-11 en route to 20 points.

Morgan Township's loss dropped their record down to 4-15. As for South Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season.

Morgan Township has already played their next matchup (against Lake Station Edison), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for South Central, they will face off against North Judson-San Pierre at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. South Central has given up an average of 50 points per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week.
