Softball Recap: Calumet New Tech Takes a Loss

Calumet New Tech extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 21 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-7 in the process. They lost 14-2 to the River Forest Ingots. The Warriors were not able to make up for their defeat to the Ingots from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

As for River Forest, the win snapped their losing streak at eight games and leaves them with a 5-8 record. Their offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last six games.

For River Forest's part, Lindee Trezak made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 16 over five innings pitched. Those 16 strikeouts gave Trezak a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Sara Puckett was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Amy Arana, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

While Calumet New Tech had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
