Baseball Recap: New Hope Comes Up Short

New Hope managed to slip by Wilson the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The New Hope Indians lost 21-12 to the Wilson Warriors on Saturday. Even though they lost, the Indians' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 7 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Layton Pohl made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Dawson Cambron, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

This is the second loss in a row for New Hope and nudges their season record down to 3-3. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Wilson, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Hope will welcome Lee at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Wilson, they will square off against Clements at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wilson has given up an average of 7.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
