Baseball Recap: Richland Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses at Home

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Somerset, Richland was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They blew past the Bishop Carroll Huskies 13-2. With that win, the Rams brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Caden Robertson and Talon Urbanek made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Robertson tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Urbanek tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). At bat, Robertson went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base, while Urbanek went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. Urbanek has become a key player for Richland: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-11 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maddox Vojtko, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Richland's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is 2-1 (and 4-10 when he doesn't). Finnegan Bradley was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs.

Richland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Richland's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-11. As for Bishop Carroll, they dropped their record down to 3-17 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

As of now, neither Richland nor the Huskies have any future games scheduled.
