Recap: Carbondale Terriers vs. Mt. Vernon Rams
The Carbondale Terriers suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Saturday. They took a serious blow against Mt. Vernon, falling 74-37. Carbondale was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-15.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mt. Vernon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Melaina Zedalis, who scored 22 points. Tiara Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 20 points.
Carbondale has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-17 record this season. As for Mt. Vernon, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 18 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carbondale will take on Vienna at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mt. Vernon, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Cahokia at 6:00 p.m. Cahokia will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 468th, while Mt. Vernon is ranked 42nd).
