Flag Football Game Preview: Temecula Prep Patriots vs. Mission Viejo Diablos

The Temecula Prep Patriots will face off against the Mission Viejo Diablos at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Temecula Prep 9.5, Mission Viejo 13.9) so any points scored will be well earned.

Temecula Prep took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They really took it to Nuview Bridge for the full four quarters, racking up a 47-6 win. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won seven games by 21 points or more so far this season.

Temecula Prep's receiving core played a big role in the win, headlined by Amina Antoine and Bailey Litt. Antoine threw for 306 yards and six TDs while Litt picked up 160 receiving yards and five scores. Those five receiving touchdowns gave Litt a new career-high.

Temecula Prep didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. Litt led the group effort, picking up three of those interceptions all by herself.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Mission Viejo's offense. They took a 6-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of El Toro on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Diablos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California flag football rankings (they are ranked 217th, while the Chargers are ranked 37th).

This is the second loss in a row for Mission Viejo and nudges their season record down to 9-13. As for Temecula Prep, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
