Baseball Game Preview: Desert Hot Springs Golden Eagles vs. Banning Broncos

The Desert Hot Springs Golden Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Banning Broncos at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Desert Hot Springs gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They blew past Desert Mirage 11-1. The Golden Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by ten runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Banning had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They walked away with a 9-6 victory over the Bears.

John Lara III was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. That home run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Trevor Eisman, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two RBI.

Banning pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Desert Hot Springs, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season.

Desert Hot Springs couldn't quite get it done against Banning in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 5-0. Can Desert Hot Springs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
