Softball Recap: Taylorsville Drops Season-High Score on Leake County

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Taylorsville). They were the clear victors by a 28-6 margin over the Leake County Gators on Thursday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Tartars as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Nela Ducksworth, who scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Harmony Turner was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Taylorsville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .786. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Taylorsville picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 3-17. As for Leake County, they dropped their record down to 1-11 with the loss, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Taylorsville will venture away from home to face off against Sebastopol at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Leake County, they will head out to take on Scott Central at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Rebels have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.59 runs per game on average), something the Gators will no doubt try to take advantage of.
