Baseball Game Preview: Warren Warriors vs. Belpre Golden Eagles

The Warren Warriors will head out to square off against the Belpre Golden Eagles at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The last three games Warren has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Warren blew Fort Frye out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Wednesday Fort Frye got their revenge. The Warriors fell just short of the Cadets by a score of 2-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Warriors were not able to get on the board.

Tate Jonas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Warren saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Saben Jonas, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, Belpre came up short against Southern on Thursday and fell 7-4. The Golden Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Chris Copen was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. He also launched a home run, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Carson Moore, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Belpre now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Warren, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-2.

Warren came out on top in a nail-biter against Belpre when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
