Softball Recap: Shoreham-Wading River Wildcats vs. Miller Place Panthers
Shoreham-Wading River extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 13 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-12 in the process. They came up short against the Miller Place Panthers, falling 9-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 13-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.
As for Miller Place, they pushed their record up to 15-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Considering they have won 13 games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
For Miller Place's part, Ava Zicchinelli made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. Shoreham-Wading River does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Miller Place, they will head out on the road to square off against East Islip at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
