Baseball Game Preview: Perry Commodores vs. Lima Central Catholic Thunderbirds

The Perry Commodores will head out to challenge the Lima Central Catholic Thunderbirds at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

While Perry's win against McComb wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Commodores had just enough and edged out the Panthers 16-15 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Commodores have posted since May 8, 2025.

Colten Scott was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Scott was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, Sylas Johnson was incredible, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Landon Cockerell, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lima Central Catholic). They had just enough and edged out Lima Senior 9-8. The win continues a trend for the Thunderbirds in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won nine in a row.

Perry suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Lima Central Catholic when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Can the Commodores avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
