Baseball Game Preview: Halifax Academy Knights vs. Crescent City Raiders

The Halifax Academy Knights will head out on the road to square off against the Crescent City Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Halifax Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Halifax Academy saw some tournament action on Friday. They lost 20-3 to Oasis Christian.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Crescent City made sure to put some runs up on the board against Peniel Baptist Academy on Friday. The Raiders put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 11-2 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Raiders' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Jed Lewis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Andrew Roosa was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. He has become a key player for Crescent City: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-13 otherwise. Thomas Erkman also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Crescent City's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-14. As for Halifax Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.

Halifax Academy might still be hurting after the 17-1 defeat they got from Crescent City in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
