Softball Recap: Colony Continues Home Dominance on Saturday

Colony faced Lathrop in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Knights were the clear victors by a 16-7 margin over the Malemutes. Considering the Knights have won 16 contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Emma Minnick made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alexis Congdon, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Alesha Crowther, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

Colony kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.

Colony's win was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-5-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for Lathrop, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Coming up, Colony will take on Palmer at 5:30 p.m. on the 12th. As for Lathrop, they will face off against North Pole on Tuesday. The Patriots have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17 runs per game on average), something the Malemutes will no doubt try to take advantage of.
