Basketball Recap: Shawnee Mission West Takes a Loss

Shawnee Mission West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a blow against the Olathe West Owls, falling 84-51. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 191st, while the Owls are ranked 36th).

Shawnee Mission West's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Olathe West, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shawnee Mission West has already played their next matchup (against Gardner-Edgerton), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Olathe West Owls face off against the Olathe Northwest Ravens at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Olathe West's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests.
