For the first time this season, Weber will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be playing at home against the Layton Lancers at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Weber is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Weber took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed last Friday. They came out on top against Roy by a score of 11-6. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Royals recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Emery Hayes made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Weber got a massive performance out of Aliya Rhees, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and one triple while going 3-for-4. That triple marked the first that Rhees hit this season. Morgan Dixon was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI.
Weber was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Layton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of Taylorsville. While the Lancers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Warriors 5-0 in the first period.
Serenity Overton was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Emma Huven, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-6. As for Layton, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
Weber's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's game. The Warriors have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Layton, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Weber continue to outrun the ball?
Everything went Weber's way against Layton when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Weber made off with a 9-0 win. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lancers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
