Baseball Recap: Adams County Christian's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Adams County Christian had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 9-5 victory over the Copiah Academy Colonels on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Rebels: when they faced off against the Colonels on Friday, they had to take a 13-9 loss.

Sean Kerry Cothern was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Cothern wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Coleman Carter, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Carter has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Adams County Christian's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 10-8. As for Copiah Academy, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-12 record.

Looking ahead, Adams County Christian will look to defend their home field on Monday against Prentiss Christian at 6:30 p.m. Copiah Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
