Baseball Recap: Walker-Hackensack-Akeley's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Walker-Hackensack-Akeley extended their winning streak to six on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 6-1 in the process. They walked away with a 10-5 victory over the Mahnomen/Waubun Thunderbirds. That's more bragging rights for the Wolves, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The team relied heavily on Gavin Swanson, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Skyler Westphal was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Walker-Hackensack-Akeley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mahnomen/Waubun only managed nine hits.

As for Mahnomen/Waubun, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this matchup were averaging four runs allowed.

On Mahnomen/Waubun's side, Owen Drinkwine was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Zima, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Walker-Hackensack-Akeley will square off against Blackduck at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mahnomen/Waubun, they will face off against Laporte at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
