Basketball Game Preview: Western Warriors vs. Cimarron-Memorial Spartans

Western is 0-3 against Cimarron-Memorial since December of 2022 but things could change on Thursday. The Western Warriors will head out on the road to take on the Cimarron-Memorial Spartans at 5:00 p.m. Western is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

Last Monday, Western took their matchup with ease, bagging a 60-31 victory over Green Valley. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 29 points or more this season.

Western relied on the efforts of Laila Lwaba, who went 8 for 12 on her way to 20 points in addition to seven assists and seven steals, and Kyra Pace, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards. Those seven assists gave Lwaba a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lyris Davis, who posted nine points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Cimarron-Memorial was able to grind out a solid win over Durango on Wednesday, taking the game 41-34.

Western has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Cimarron-Memorial, they pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Western came up short against Cimarron-Memorial in their previous matchup back in January, falling 62-55. Can Western avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
