Baseball Recap: Fisher's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Dwight, Fisher was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They walked away with a 5-1 win over the St. Thomas More Sabers. The victory was some much needed relief for the Bunnies as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Weston Ensign made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has become a key player for Fisher: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-18 otherwise. Ensign was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Fisher got a big performance out of Caleb Zwilling, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. Those three hits gave Zwilling a new career-high. Andrew Todd was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-19. As for St. Thomas More, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-18 record this season.

Fisher will venture away from home to square off against Milford at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for St. Thomas More, they will welcome Illinois Valley Central at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
