Football Game Preview: Summit Storm vs. Churchill Lancers

Summit is on a ten-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Churchill is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Storm will welcome the Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Summit 11.4, Churchill 14.3) so any points scored will be well earned.

Summit is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 14-13 win over West Albany. The 14-point effort marked the Storm's lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Meanwhile, Churchill faced Thurston in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Lancers walked away with a 33-23 victory over the Colts.

Churchill's win came from a few key players Summit will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Lucas Gansen, who threw for 117 yards and two TDs on only eight passes, and also punched in one rushing score. Those two passing touchdowns gave him a new career-high.

Churchill's run defense was locked in: Thurston could only muster 3.1 yards per carry. The Lancers didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.8.

Churchill's win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Summit, their victory bumped their record up to 11-0.
