Preview: Hancock Central Bulldogs vs. Washington County Golden Hawks
Hancock Central and Washington County are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Hancock Central Bulldogs will be home for the holidays to greet the Washington County Golden Hawks at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hancock Central comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Last Saturday, Hancock Central came up short against Warren County and fell 67-54. While losing is never fun, Hancock Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 436th, while Warren County is ranked 172nd).
Despite the loss, Hancock Central saw an underclassman step up: Josiah Ingram scored 18 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Ingram scored a full 33.3% of Hancock Central's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Glover, who scored seven points.
Meanwhile, Washington County humbled Josey with a 90-54 victory.
Hancock Central's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Washington County, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Hancock Central beat Washington County 74-64 when the teams last played back in January. Does Hancock Central have another victory up their sleeve, or will Washington County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
