Basketball Recap: Eustis Falls Despite Big Games from Lomar Sparrow and Cornelius Hines

Eustis suffered their closest loss since February 10th on Friday. They fell just short of the Williston Red Devils by a score of 53-50. The matchup marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Eustis' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Cornelius Hines, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds, and Lomar Sparrow, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. Hines is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Timothy Key, who posted eight points and three steals.

Eustis has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-4 record this season. As for Williston, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-3.

Eustis and Vanguard will face off at 12:50 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. One thing working in Vanguard's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matches. As for Williston, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against North Marion at 6:10 p.m. on Saturday.
