Baseball Game Preview: Kankakee Valley Kougars vs. Highland Trojans

Kankakee Valley is 2-8 against Highland since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Kougars will welcome the Trojans at 5:00 p.m.

Last Tuesday, Kankakee Valley didn't have quite enough to beat Hobart and fell 3-2.

Kankakee Valley saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Declan Murr, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Illiana Christian typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Highland proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 9-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.

Jakob Cameron looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits.

On the hitting side, Brady Boyd was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Highland's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-7 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of David Klapkowski, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.

Highland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Illiana Christian only managed seven.

Kankakee Valley's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Highland, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Kankakee Valley has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Highland struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
