Flag Football Recap: Torrey Pines Skates Past La Costa Canyon with Ease

After only 12 points in their last contest, Torrey Pines made sure to put some points up on the board against La Costa Canyon on Monday. The Falcons blew past the Mavericks 40-8. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' California flag football rankings (they are ranked 30th, while the Mavericks are ranked 118th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Alexa Avila was a one-woman wrecking crew as she rushed for 95 yards and two TDs, and also picked up 52 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Those 95 rushing yards gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Izzie Dieter, who threw for 186 yards and three touchdowns.

Torrey Pines' record is now 16-10. As for La Costa Canyon, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-6.

As of now, neither Torrey Pines nor the Mavericks have any future games scheduled.
