Volleyball Game Preview: Glastonbury Guardians vs. Farmington River Hawks

The Glastonbury Guardians will square off against the Farmington River Hawks at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Glastonbury is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over Amity Regional. The Guardians haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Glastonbury had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-17, 25-12, 25-17.

Glastonbury can attribute much of their success to Leah Mosca, who had 16 digs and eight assists, and Mckenna Reynolds, who hit 62.5% for ten kills and eight digs, three blocks, and two aces. With that strong performance, Mosca is now averaging an impressive 10.2 digs per game. Sophia Baxter also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Meanwhile, Farmington faced Simsbury in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The River Hawks narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Trojans 3-2.

Farmington's victory bumped their record up to 18-6. As for Glastonbury, their win bumped their record up to 27-3-2.
