Baseball Recap: Hilliard Snaps Ten-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hilliard). They put the hurt on the Bradford Tornadoes with a sharp 11-1 victory on Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Red Flashes considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

Austin Thompson was a standout: he scored three runs while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Jacob Cooper was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Hilliard always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .519. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Hilliard's win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-10. As for Bradford, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hilliard will head out to square off against Charlton County at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Bradford, they will head out on the road to take on Baker County at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The last four games Baker County has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
