Basketball Recap: Goshen Central Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Goshen Central lost against Washingtonville two weeks ago, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Goshen Central Gladiators took a 52-38 bruising from the Washingtonville Wizards. While losing is never fun, the Gladiators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 448th, while the Wizards are ranked 134th).

Matthew Rodriguez had a dynamite game for Washingtonville, shooting 56% from the field to rack up 14 points and four steals. Those 14 points gave Rodriguez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aidan Sullivan, who went 6-for-15 on his way to 12 points and three steals.

Goshen Central's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.7 points over those games. As for Washingtonville, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-3.

Goshen Central has already played their next match, a 72-69 victory against Saugerties on the 26th. Washingtonville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
