Softball Recap: Four Straight Road Victories for St. Patrick

St. Patrick got themselves on the board against Our Lady Academy on Friday, but Our Lady Academy never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Crescents with a sharp 14-0 victory. Considering the Fighting Irish have won five contests by more than eight runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Ave DiFilippo looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (two).

On the hitting side, Elizabeth Colson was a standout: she scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tara Nasakaitis, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

St. Patrick always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Our Lady Academy only posted an OBP of .000.

St. Patrick pushed their record up to 8-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Our Lady Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season.

St. Patrick will square off against Pass Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Our Lady Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Resurrection Catholic at 5:00 p.m. Our Lady Academy is facing Resurrection Catholic at the right time seeing as Resurrection Catholic is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
