Serrano is 8-2 against Hesperia since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Diamondbacks will square off against the Scorpions at 3:15 p.m. Serrano will be strutting in after a victory while Hesperia will be coming in after a defeat.
Serrano took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Burroughs as they made off with a 13-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Diamondbacks, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.
Lexi Escalera made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Wendy Arauz was incredible, going 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aila Berlanga, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.
Serrano was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Burroughs only posted a batting average of .143.
Meanwhile, Hesperia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 15-2 to Oak Hills, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
Serrano's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-12. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Hesperia, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-14.
Serrano came out on top in a nail-biter against Hesperia in their previous matchup two weeks ago, sneaking past 8-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Diamondbacks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
