Basketball Recap: Caldwell Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Lyla Lowe and Breighlee Moracco

Caldwell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Warren Warriors an easy 51-31 win. While losing is never fun, the Redskins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 569th, while the Warriors are ranked 103rd).

Caldwell's loss came despite strong showings from Breighlee Moracco and Lyla Lowe. Moracco went 6 for 14 on her way to 16 points and five steals, while Lowe posted eight points in addition to ten rebounds and three steals. Moracco is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Even though they lost, Caldwell smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Caldwell's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Warren, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.

Caldwell will welcome Monroe Central at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Warren, they will venture away from home to square off against Williamstown at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Williamstown's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
