Basketball Recap: Fairfax Christian Skates Past Roanoke Catholic with Ease

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Fairfax Christian walked away with it. They breezed past the Roanoke Catholic Celtics to the tune of 94-58 on Friday. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Celtics are ranked 93rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fairfax Christian is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 23-12 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.3 points over those games. Roanoke Catholic has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 20-12 record this season.

A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Cardinals take on the Wildcats at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Carmel School knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 29 contests -- so hopefully Fairfax Christian likes a good challenge. Roanoke Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
