Football Recap: Hamilton Takes a Loss

After flying high against Raleigh-Egypt last Thursday, Hamilton came back down to earth. The Wildcats had to suffer through a 56-0 loss at the hands of the Melrose Golden Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 270th, while the Golden Wildcats are ranked 117th).

Melrose found their leader in sophomore Thomas Heffner, who threw for 248 yards and four TDs while completing 90% of his passes. Another big playmaker for the Golden Wildcats was Carlos Edwards, who returned a punt for a touchdown.

Hamilton's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Melrose, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Hamilton is set to square off against their familiar foe Bolton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Melrose will challenge rival Douglass at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
